Destrehan - Steam sternwheel towboat, built 1922
Hull 133.9' x 32'. Towed gasoline and petroleum products on the lower Mississippi River. Sold in
1941 to Armco Steel and renamed Charles R. Hook, she worked between Huntington, W. W.Va. and
Cincinnati, Ohio. Dismantled in 1957 and re-built as the Captain Hook floating restaurant at
Cincinnati, which was in business from 1964 until 1968.
There are 14 sheets of plans of various sizes, the largest being 56'' by 30''. All are reproduced from
the original drawings, some of which are soiled, producing "background" in the prints. They will
enable an experienced model builder to construct an incredibly detailed reproduction of this boat,
if desired. The drawings are also excellent reference material for wood and steel steamboat
construction. The prints are prime examples of the draftsman's art before the advent of computer-aided
design and machine produced drawings.
Views included: Outboard profile, hull lines & offsets, hull & main deck steel construction, cabin
plans, detailed pilothouse plans, detailed boiler drawings, front stairway details, cabin door
details, lifeboats, davits & rigging details and cabin joiner work. Most of the drawings are to
1:48th scale with details to larger scales. Model size; 39 3/4'' long by 8 1/4'' beam.
