Scott and Ft. Armstrong - Identical diesel-electric sternwheel towboats built for the Army Corps of Engineers, 1930

The Scott originally worked on the Ohio River for the Huntington District; the Ft. Armstrong worked for the Rock Island District on the Upper Mississippi River. Later, both worked on the Ohio River. Both were eventually sold at public auction to private owners. After extensive re-building, the Scott is still in service today as the excursion boat P. A. Denny, based at Charleston, W. VA. The Ft. Armstrong's hull is still afloat, used as a barge by Madison Coal & Supply, Charleston, W. VA. There are 5 sheets of plans, drawn to 1:48th scale. Model size: 27 1/2'' long by 5 1/4'' beam.
