George T. Price - Twin screw Diesel towboat, built 1925
Length overall: 115.5', beam: 26'. Although not a very handsome boat, the Price is historically
significant, as she was the very first twin screw diesel powered towboat built in the U S. Originally
powered by two 360 Hp engines, she was re-engined in 1938 with National Superior diesels totaling
1600 HP. She was originally built for the W. C. Kelly Barge Line, which became the American Barge
Line. In 1946 she was sold to O. F. Shearer & Sons.
There are two sheets reproduced to 1:48th scale. One shows the outboard profile and deck plans, the
other is a lines drawing of the rather odd shaped tunnel stern hull. Photos incl. Model size; 31 1/2''
long, 6 5/8'' beam.
